Pune: Cummins India Limited has appointed Shveta Arya as its new Managing Director. Effective September 1, 2024, Arya will officially assume her role, following her designation as Additional Director and Managing Director (Designate) starting from August 8, 2024. Her appointment is pending shareholder approval via a postal ballot.

Shveta Arya takes over the reins from Ashwath Ram, who has led Cummins India to significant achievements during his tenure, including successfully navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ram will remain with the company until the end of August 2024.

Arya currently heads the Power Systems Business at Cummins India, a role she will continue to oversee even after becoming Managing Director. In her tenure, she has been instrumental in driving growth, expanding market reach, and spearheading the launch of the CPCB IV+ product range, which adheres to some of the world’s strictest emission standards for backup power generation.

Before leading the Power Systems Business, Arya managed Cummins' Distribution business in India, where she developed a five-year growth strategy that led to substantial revenue increases.

Expressing his confidence in Arya, Ashwath Ram stated, "Shveta’s strategic insight, customer focus, and dedication to our core values make her the ideal leader to guide Cummins India forward. I am confident she will build on our successes and take the company to new heights."

Arya, a seasoned leader with over 20 years of experience across various industries including Automotive, Travel, Financial Services, and Telecom, holds a master's degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), and a bachelor's degree in Information Technology engineering from Delhi University.

She joined Cummins in 2016 as the Head of Strategy after holding key positions at Thomas Cook, Kearney, and Infosys.

On her appointment, Arya remarked, "Leading Cummins India, an organization with a rich legacy of over 60 years in powering India's growth, is both an honor and a responsibility I deeply cherish.

I look forward to steering the company into its next phase of growth and upholding our commitment to innovation and reliability."
