Pune: Residents of the Bhimshaktinagar slum in Chinchwad have raised strong objections to the recent SRA (Slum Rehabilitation Authority) survey conducted in their area, accusing the developer of using intimidation tactics.

The Bhimshaktinagar Social Development Organization has submitted a memorandum to the Slum Rehabilitation Authority, demanding that all local conditions be met before any further action is taken. The organization has also threatened legal action if their demands are not addressed.

The residents, who have lived in the area for over 30 years, claim that despite receiving civic amenities from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, their slum has not been officially recognized.

They have expressed concerns over the lack of transparency regarding the housing arrangements under the SRA scheme, noting that many residents lack the necessary documentation to qualify for the project.

The organization has raised concerns about the lack of clarity regarding the type of housing, playgrounds, community centers, and religious sites.

They have accused the developer of merely attempting to grab land and render the residents homeless. The memorandum also alleges that the initial survey of houses was conducted under intimidation with the help of local goons.

The organization has stated that if they are to be provided housing, it should be done with a formal written agreement, and every family in each house should be given a separate home.

Otherwise, they do not want the project. The memorandum also warns that if there is any forced action by the developer, the organization will take legal action against them.
