Pune: To tackle persistent traffic jams on Solapur Road, authorities have introduced new traffic regulations in the Fatimanagar area.

The traffic signal at Fatimanagar Junction has been turned off, which is expected to smooth traffic flow and increase vehicle speed along the stretch, according to the Wanawadi Traffic Division.

The changes, implemented on a trial basis, require all small vehicles heading towards Hadapsar via Shivarkar Road to take a U-turn before Bhairobanala Junction and continue on Solapur Road.

This route is open only to two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and cars. Buses and heavy vehicles must take U-turn and reroute via the Bhairobanala Junction petrol pump to access Solapur Road.

Additionally, buses and heavy vehicles traveling from Swargate towards Shivarkar Road in Wanawadi are required to turn right at Bhairobanala Junction and proceed via Wanawadi Bazaar Police Chowky to reach their destination.

Two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and cars from Swargate heading to Shivarkar Road must pass through Fatimanagar junction and take U-turn near the entrance of the Army Institute of Sports, just before Avenue Mall.

Inspector Sunil Pandharkar of the Wanawadi Traffic Department has urged motorists to adhere to these changes. He expressed optimism that the new arrangements will reduce congestion on Solapur Road and improve traffic conditions.

In response to the growing traffic congestion in Pune city, Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis has recently announced the appointment of an Additional Commissioner of Police and two Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to manage traffic more effectively.
