Southern Command Celebrates 98th Military Nursing Service Raising Day

Pune: The 98th Raising Day of the Military Nursing Service (MNS) was celebrated with fervor by officers of the Southern Command.

This significant event highlighted the MNS’s unwavering commitment to its mission, “Excellence in Patient Care,” and honored the dedication of its officers who provide compassionate care to soldiers and their families during both wartime and peacetime.

The inclusion of MNS officers in the 2024 Republic Day Parade was a key milestone, reflecting the respect and recognition they have earned within the Armed Forces for their invaluable contributions.

The commemorative events began with Brigadier Tressa SP, MNS, Southern Command Headquarters, laying a wreath at the War Memorial in Pune alongside veterans and MNS officers from the Pune Garrison.

This solemn tribute honored the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. The ceremony was followed by a Nurse’s Pledge, where the officers reaffirmed their commitment to upholding professional standards and ethics in their service.

The celebrations culminated in a grand social gathering at the Tapovan Lawns of Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune. Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of Southern Command, graced the event as the chief guest, accompanied by senior officers from all three services and veterans.

During the evening, the Army Commander extended his best wishes to the nursing officers and acknowledged their critical role in supporting the Armed Forces.

The 98th Raising Day stands as a testament to the dedication and professionalism of MNS officers, who continue to play a vital role in the healthcare and well-being of military personnel and their dependents.
