Speeding Car Overturns in Wagholi, One Killed and One Injured

Pune: In a tragic accident on the Wagholi-Lohegaon road, one person lost his life, and another was injured when a speeding car overturned near D-Mart.

The deceased has been identified as Anupam Mahesh Aserkar (23). The injured car driver is identified as Dev Patnaik (23). The accident occurred a few days ago when Anupam and his friend Dev were returning from a nearby hotel where they had gone to have tea.

According to the police, a truck approached from the opposite direction at high speed on the poorly lit road. The driver, Dev Patnaik, lost control of the car while trying to avoid the truck, causing the vehicle to flip over.

Anupam Aserkar suffered serious injuries in the crash, and both friends were immediately rushed to the hospital. Despite medical efforts, Anupam succumbed to his injuries a few days later.

A case has been registered against Dev Patnaik for his role in causing the accident. The police are continuing their investigation based on a complaint filed by Anupam’s mother.

Earlier, on October 6, a 32-year-old woman lost her life after a speeding dumper struck the two-wheeler she was riding with her husband. The accident took place on the Pune-Nagar Highway near Chitale Sweet Home around 9:45 AM.

The woman, identified as Sirichandana Vishwanath Hewattam, a resident of Nyati Elan in Wagholi, was killed instantly after falling under the rear wheels of the dumper. Her husband, Vishwanath, sustained injuries in the collision but survived.
