Pune: In accordance with directives from the University Grants Commission (UGC), Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has established an internship portal to offer students a wide range of internship opportunities.

This initiative is aimed at helping students from undergraduate and postgraduate courses gain practical experience as they complete their degrees, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020.

The newly launched internship portal has already seen registrations from over 500 companies, institutions, and banks from Pune, Ahmednagar, and Nashik districts.

These include businesses, NGOs, cooperative organizations, and various professional entities such as CA, CS, law firms, and industrial groups. The portal was introduced in February 2024 and can be accessed via https://sppuinternship.unipune.ac.in/.

Through the portal, students can conveniently search for internships that are either near their homes or colleges, and they can engage with industries and institutions at no cost.

The university has taken steps to communicate directly with organizations through letters and emails, inviting participation from different sectors such as media, tax practitioners, urban and rural banks, and book publishing firms.

The inclusion of internships and on-the-job training in the curriculum is part of the university's efforts to implement the new academic policy. These practical experiences will also be credited towards the students’ degrees, providing a balanced approach to theoretical and practical learning.

As colleges across the Pune University jurisdiction begin registering students through designated nodal officers, this initiative promises to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the demands of the professional world.
