Student Anxiety Soars as CET Cell Moves to Cancel Irregular College Admissions

Salil Urunkar

Pune: The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell is taking decisive action against several colleges in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad for alleged mismanagement in their admission processes, leaving many students' futures hanging in the balance.

As the news broke, images of distressed students crowding the premises of Cummins College circulated on social media, highlighting the confusion and chaos caused by the mismanaged admissions.

Many students who believed they had secured their spots are now in a state of anxiety, uncertain about their academic futures. Kalpesh Yadav shared updates on social media, reflecting the broader unrest among students who feel trapped in a system marred by irregularities.

Notices have been issued to ten educational institutions, including prominent names like D.Y. Patil Engineering and Management College and Cummins Engineering College, after it was discovered that admissions were conducted in violation of established rules and regulations.

The crackdown follows a complaint filed by Kalpesh Yadav, Assistant Secretary of Yuva Sena, who provided substantial evidence of irregular admissions for professional courses.

Students who had been admitted under these questionable processes now face the possibility of having their admissions canceled, causing widespread concern and uncertainty.

The CET Cell’s investigation revealed that these colleges filled seats at the institutional level without adhering to the mandated procedures, such as Rule No. 13 of the Information Brochure, which dictates the correct method for filling vacant seats from the central admission process.

The CET Cell’s decision to cancel these admissions aims to uphold the integrity of the admission process and ensure that all students have a fair and transparent path to their educational pursuits.

However, the immediate impact on students who are now caught in this regulatory crackdown is significant, with many left scrambling for clarity and seeking assurance that their educational aspirations won’t be derailed.
