Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule has raised concerns about the timing of the notice issued to the Mercedes-Benz plant in Chakan for environmental violations.

Addressing a gathering in Chinchwad, Sule questioned why the government is addressing this issue only now, after many years of the plant's operation, and demanded a detailed explanation of the exact circumstances surrounding the notice.

Sule, who was speaking at a family gathering of citizens from the Kagal and Gadhinglaj constituencies of Kolhapur district, expressed surprise over the recent notice.

"Why was no attention paid to this issue for so many years?" she asked, calling on the government to provide transparency on the matter. She also remarked, "Putting up a signboard doesn't make someone the Chief Minister; it’s the people who decide."

The event, which was held in Chinchwad, saw the participation of key political figures, including Samarjitsingh Ghatge, NCP city youth president Imran Sheikh, and city working president Vishal Kalbhor.

Sule took the opportunity to discuss the upcoming elections, expressing confidence in her party’s readiness. “We are prepared for the elections. I don't place my faith in the power of money; I believe in the strength of the people,” she said.

"If money and power were enough, I wouldn’t have been elected in the first place," she added, underlining her belief in grassroots support over financial influence.

The MP also touched upon internal political developments within the NCP, noting that the Lok Sabha Secretariat has officially recognized the Sharad Pawar-led faction of the party by allocating it an office. "Even the invisible forces now know which party is the real one," she stated.
