Swargate Metro Line Inauguration: Traffic Diversions and No Parking Zones Announced

Vehicles entering Jedhe Chowk should proceed to Volga Chowk, turn right towards Mitra Mandal Chowk, and then turn right again at Savarkar Statue Chowk.

Pune Traffic Police have announced several changes in traffic and parking arrangements ahead of the inauguration of the Shivajinagar to Swargate Metro Line.

The event, scheduled for September 29, 2024, will be attended by several VVIPs and dignitaries, prompting the need for special traffic measures, stated Amol Zende, DCP Traffic, Pune City in a press release.

Details of Restrictions:

1. Ganesh Kala Krida Kendra and Swargate Metro Station Area:

  • On the day of the inauguration, traffic and parking arrangements will be modified around key areas to accommodate the event's security and logistics:

  • No Parking Zone: All types of vehicles will be prohibited from parking on the road from Jedhe Chowk to Bajaj Statue from 07:00 AM until the event concludes.

  • Two-Way Traffic: Depending on the need, two-way traffic will be allowed between Jedhe Chowk and Bajaj Statue Chowk.

  • Road Closures: Vehicle entry may be restricted between Jedhe Chowk and Bajaj Statue Chowk.

    Drivers are advised to use alternate routes: vehicles entering Jedhe Chowk should proceed to Volga Chowk via Satara Road, turn right towards Mitra Mandal Chowk, and then turn right again at Savarkar Statue Chowk to reach their desired location.

  • Flyover Access: Vehicles coming from Satara Road will have access to the Jedhe Chowk Flyover to proceed towards Solapur Road.

2. Civil Court Metro Station Area:

  • No Parking Zone: No parking will be allowed from Chhatrapati Shivaji Statue Chowk to Kamgar Statue Chowk and from Tofkhana Chowk to Ranade Path between 07:00 AM and 04:00 PM.

  • Emergency Traffic Flow: Two-way traffic will be allowed between Chhatrapati Shivaji Statue Chowk and Kamgar Statue Chowk during emergencies.

Public Advisory:

The Pune Traffic Police have urged citizens to plan their travel routes accordingly and avoid the restricted areas to prevent delays. These measures are crucial to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the inauguration ceremony.
