Pune: Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU) celebrated its 5th Convocation Ceremony at the Kiwale Campus on Saturday (September 28).
The event was marked by the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Abhay Firodia, Chairman of Force Motors, as the Guest of Honor.
The ceremony was presided over by Chancellor Prof. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, alongside Pro Chancellor Dr. Swati Mujumdar.
Dr. Swati Mujumdar highlighted the university’s mission to create industry-ready graduates by offering specialized skill-based education. She shared that 984 students from various disciplines, including engineering, management, and data science, were awarded degrees and diplomas.
She also lauded the university's excellent placement record, noting that the highest undergraduate salary package this year was ₹32 lakhs. Several graduates have also ventured into entrepreneurship, a testament to the university’s focus on cultivating practical skills and innovation.
SSPU was recently ranked No. 1 in the Skill University category by the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
Chancellor Dr. S.B. Mujumdar emphasized the growing importance of skill-based education in addressing the employability crisis among graduates. Prof. T.G. Sitharam expressed his belief that skill-based education is the future of higher education in India.
Dr. Abhay Firodia echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the increasing global demand for skilled professionals. He applauded SSPU for blending academic learning with hands-on training, thereby elevating the stature of skilled workers in society.
The convocation saw the recognition of meritorious students with the Chancellor’s Gold Medal. The event also featured the presentation of two special awards—the Aatmanirbhar Award and the Kushal Award.
The Aatmanirbhar Award, which encourages entrepreneurship, was given to Mihir Pingle, a BBA Digital Media Marketing graduate who launched his own leather manufacturing business.
The Kushal Award, honoring career success post-graduation, was awarded to Pranali Nimbalkar, a Diploma in Manufacturing Automation graduate.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajesh Ingle presented the university’s annual report, highlighting its key achievements over the past year.
