Pune: Pargaon’s New English School, under the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, has undergone a major transformation thanks to the collaborative efforts of local villagers, school committee members, teachers, and former students.
Spearheaded by School Committee Chairman Sayaji Takwane, along with committee members Subhash Bhotre, Namdev Takwane, Arun Bhotre, Sarjerao Jedhe, and Principal Jayaram Savane, the decision was made to revamp the school premises as a tribute to Karmaveer Jayanti.
In a unique and heartwarming display of community spirit, teachers at the school volunteered to take on the task of painting all 16 classrooms.
By doing the work themselves on weekends and holidays, the teachers saved the school ₹50,000 in labor costs. Assistant Teachers Janardan Lonkar, Gorakh Jadhav, Dnyandev Zhagde, Santosh Bhalerao, Vishnu Shinde, Prakash Lohakare, and Krishna Valvi were among the many who contributed to the initiative.
Infrastructure Improvements
In addition to the painting, other significant improvements have been made. Contractor Balasaheb Pasalkar contributed an 800-meter cement road that stretches from the school gate to the campus at no cost.
he MSEDCL branch, led by engineer Rohit Tarte, also stepped in to improve safety by providing free plastic sheathing for the electric wires running over the school grounds.
Former students of the school also played a pivotal role in the transformation. Alumni including Vijay Shivarkar, Vishwajeet Kadam, Dattatreya Shelar, Ganesh Chaudhary, Mahesh Kirjat, Sachin Chavan, Gaurav Chavan, and Manoj Bhotre donated fuel for heavy machinery such as JCBs to help level and prepare the school grounds for sports.
New Sports Facilities
Thanks to these efforts, the school now boasts two new kho-kho fields, two kabaddi fields, a long-jump area, and a cricket pitch, creating more opportunities for students to engage in sports and physical activities. These new facilities will be formally inaugurated on the 30th of this month, during the Karmaveer Jayanti celebrations.
Future Plans and Support from Deputy CM Ajit Pawar
Looking ahead, the school has even more ambitious plans, including the construction of a new auditorium named after Sharadchandraji Pawar, which will have a capacity of 1,000 students. To support this endeavor, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has announced a donation of ₹10 lakhs.
