Thergaon: Senior Citizen Drugged and Robbed of ₹6.41 Lakh, Driver Booked

Pune: A senior citizen was drugged by his driver, who mixed a sedative with his blood pressure and sugar medication, rendering him unconscious.

The driver then stole jewelry and valuable items worth ₹6.41 lakh from his home. This incident occurred on Wednesday (August 14) morning between 8 to 9 AM in Swiss County Society, Thergaon.

Vasudev Bhalchandra Advani (68), a resident of Swiss County Society, Thergaon) lodged a complaint at Wakad Police Station. Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case against Rafik alias Sameer Jamadar (42).

According to the police, Vasudev Advani is a textile businessman, and Rafik Jamadar was employed as his driver. On Wednesday morning, while Advani was in his bedroom, Rafik administered the drugged medication to him.

After consuming it, Advani fell unconscious. Rafik then stole a 4.5 tola (approximately 52 grams) gold bracelet worth ₹3.5 lakh, a 2.5 tola (approximately 29 grams) gold chain worth ₹1.8 lakh,

a gold Ganpati pendant worth ₹1 lakh, ₹6,000 in cash from his wallet, the car keys, the car's registration certificate, and a Bank of Baroda credit card, amounting to a total of ₹6.41 lakh.

When Advani regained consciousness a few hours later, he realized his jewelry was missing. However, due to the effects of the sedative, he was unable to take any action immediately.

The police were informed of the incident late on Thursday night. Wakad police have registered a case, and Police Sub-Inspector Pote is investigating the matter.
