Pune: The family of dismissed IAS trainee officer Puja Khedkar has averted the auction of their company, Thermoverita Private Limited, located in Talawade, by settling overdue taxes.

The company had been facing an auction threat due to unpaid property tax of ₹2.87 lakh and water tax of ₹1.78 lakh, both of which were settled on August 6.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation had previously seized the company's property on July 19 after notices demanding payment went unanswered.

The Khedkar family, which includes Puja’s mother Manorama, who owns the company, managed to pay the dues within the 21-day period provided after the seizure.

Puja Khedkar had provided the address of the family-owned company in Talawade as proof of residence to obtain a disability certificate from Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

The ration card submitted as identification also listed the company's address. The company, Thermoverita Private Limited, located in Jyotibanagar, Talawade, is registered in the name of Puja’s mother, Manorama. Since 2022, the company owed a property tax of ₹2,87,000.

Despite receiving notices, the tax was not paid, leading to the property's seizure on July 19.

The Khedkar family was given 21 days to settle the dues. On August 6, they paid the outstanding property tax of ₹2,87,591 and the water tax of ₹1,78,680. Therefore, the auction of the company has been avoided.

Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh of the Tax Assessment and Collection Department confirmed that the company has settled its outstanding dues, and hence, no auction will be carried out.
