Thieves Steal Expensive Dry Fruits and Cash from Warje Store

Shivraj Sanas

Pune: In another incident of theft, a dry fruit store in Warje was targeted by thieves who stole packets of dry fruits and cash worth ₹1,03,325. This follows a similar break-in last week at a sweet shop in Yerawada, where thieves made off with cash and 2.5 kg of "Amba Barfi."

The theft took place at "The Dryfruit House," a shop owned by Nareshbhai Amrabhai Chaudhary, located near RMD College in Popular Prestige Society, Warje.

According to Chaudhary’s complaint filed at Warje Police Station, the thieves broke into the store around midnight by smashing the lock. Once inside, they ransacked the cash drawer and took valuable dry fruits, including packets of cashews, almonds, pistachios, walnuts, and figs.

The total value of the stolen goods and cash is estimated at ₹1,03,325. Senior Police Inspector Manoj Shedge visited the scene after the incident was reported. The police have since secured CCTV footage from nearby areas, and the investigation is being led by Sub-Inspector Narle.

This incident mirrors a theft that occurred a week ago at a sweet shop on Golf Club Road, Yerawada, where thieves stole "Amba Barfi" and cash.

The trend of break-ins and thefts in Pune has been on the rise in recent months, with several shops being targeted, especially during the late hours of the night. Authorities are urging business owners to increase security measures in light of the growing number of such thefts.
