Pune: The traffic police in the city are violating the rules by using their personal mobile phones instead of taking action through the e-challan machines provided by the state government to take punitive action against the drivers who violate the traffic rules.
Rules apply to ordinary citizens, but don't the rules apply to traffic police? Constitution one for common citizens and why illegal laws for traffic police.. This is what the General Citizen Service Foundation has asked in a statement to the Pune Police Traffic Department.
E-challan machines should be made available to the city traffic police, traffic police and traffic wardens should be stopped at the main intersections and the malpractices at other intersections should be stopped immediately, every traffic cop should not perform duty without wearing a name plate on his uniform.
The traffic police should ensure strict implementation of traffic rules. In a statement, the foundation demanded that no innocent drivers be subjected to any undue harassment.
The foundation's founder president Manoj Patil, vice-president Raju Durgai, Mahesh Mhetri and Lalit Shetty were present on the occasion.
