Pune City Traffic Police have announced a ban on heavy vehicles at 30 key traffic intersections and locations from Monday until August 12, from 9 AM to 10 PM.
This measure aims to address the city's severe traffic congestion issues, exacerbated by continuous heavy rains leading to deteriorated road conditions.
The heavy rainfall has caused significant pothole formation, resulting in increased traffic jams. While this ban targets heavy vehicles such as trucks, dumpers, and concrete mixers, emergency service vehicles are exempt.
Traffic Congestion Due to Rain: The decision to impose this ban has been taken due to the deteriorated condition of roads caused by continuous heavy rains. The potholes and insufficient repairs on city roads have exacerbated traffic congestion, worsening the city's traffic problems.
Traffic Management: While this ban applies to heavy vehicles, emergency service vehicles are exempt from this rule. In a notification issued on Sunday night, DCP Traffic Rohidas Pawar clarified that due to continuous rain, numerous potholes have formed on the roads.
