Shivraj Sanas

Pune: In a move to bring tribal communities into the mainstream, the Maharashtra government is taking steps to establish a Tribal University.

Governor and Chancellor C.P. Radhakrishnan announced the initiative, emphasizing that the goal is to empower tribal communities with modern knowledge and skills to compete globally, rather than isolating them.

Speaking at the COEP Technological University's first convocation ceremony, Radhakrishnan highlighted the importance of aligning educational curricula with market demands and the need for innovation and entrepreneurship to tackle challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and resource scarcity.

COEP has signed an agreement with a management institution like KPMG to elevate its status as a world-class institution. Dr. Chaudhari expressed that it is a matter of pride that COEP University is given top priority for engineering education in Pune.

One Hour Must Be Dedicated to Reading

Students spend many hours studying on laptops. However, to refresh themselves and acquire new knowledge, students should dedicate at least one hour daily to reading printed books, Radhakrishnan added.

Scholarships Worth ₹1.4 Crore Awarded to 330 Students

Dr. Bhirud presented the university's progress report. He stated that the construction of a new library and administrative building at the university will commence soon.

Under the Student Welfare Campaign, laptops were distributed to 105 students. Scholarships worth ₹1.4 crore have been awarded to 330 students.

Additionally, 79% of undergraduate students and 47% of postgraduate students have received campus placements, with the highest package being ₹87 lakh.

During the convocation, successful students of civil engineering, computational sciences, electrical and communications engineering, school of mechanical and materials engineering and transdisciplinary sciences and management were awarded with the degrees.
