Pune: Dr. Bibek Debroy was known for his extraordinary research interest. Debroy encouraged new ideas and encouraged new writers. He wrote more than 60,000 published pages and columnists on the history of fountain pen, history of Indian Railways, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Purana-Markandeya Purana translation.
His vast knowledge, writing and ability to cover many fields was immense, with various dignitaries paying tribute to him.
Economist Dr. Bibek Debroy passed away on November 1. A condolence meeting was held at the university on Tuesday to mark the occasion.
Vice-Chancellor in-charge of Deccan College Prof. Prasad Joshi, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics; Pradeep Apte, former director of Deccan College; K. Paddaiah, former vice-chancellor; Pramod Pandey and others were present.
All of them paid tributes to Dr. Debroy. Dr. Debroy was not only an economist, but he was also a humanist, strategist, deeply rooted in history-past-heritage and great educationist and thinker.
"He was really futuristic." Pramod Pandey noted. Deccan College undertook projects such as the history of government and the principles of government, ancient Indian economic thought and educational philosophy. K. Paddaiah recalled his memories.
