Pune: Industries in Pune district have been struggling with inadequate infrastructure for some time, affecting their growth and operations. To address this issue, the Federation of Associations of Pimpri-Chinchwad, representing 25 industry organizations, has appealed directly to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. They are urging the government to increase investments in industry-supportive infrastructure in the upcoming Union Budget.

The Federation has sent a letter to the Finance Minister highlighting the need for infrastructure improvements to boost the economy, which has slowed down due to the COVID-19 crisis. The letter emphasizes the pressing need for better infrastructure in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, which has been a longstanding issue for local industries.

Key demands from the Federation include promoting logistics parks in Pune district and Pimpri-Chinchwad, increasing the number of industry clusters, and establishing a dedicated cargo airport to enhance export capabilities. They also seek the expansion of schemes for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to stimulate growth and job creation.

Additionally, they have called for fuel to be included under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to streamline costs for businesses. This direct appeal to the Finance Minister underscores the critical need for infrastructure development to sustain and grow industries in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, aiming to foster economic recovery and job creation in the region.

Govind Pansare, President of the Federation of Associations of Pimpri-Chinchwad, stated, "We have requested the creation of an integrated logistics park in Pune district, increased investment in industry-supportive infrastructure, and the establishment of a dedicated cargo airport to support our export activities."
