Pune: Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi organized a protest outside the office of Adv. Asim Sarode in Pune against the remarks of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to end the reservation system, during his visit to the United States of America.

Rahul Gandhi had stated that the party would consider ending reservations when equal opportunities are available to everyone in India. This remark has sparked controversy and led to the protests by VBA activists.

Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi's action has drawn criticism from Congress leaders, including Satej Patil. Patil took to Facebook to accuse the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi of engaging in politically motivated actions that benefit the BJP. He argued that the protest was based on a misinterpretation of Gandhi’s comments, which did not suggest an end to reservations.

When contacted, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi spokesperson Siddharth Mokle stated that he was unaware of the protest details and confirmed that no instructions for such a demonstration had come from senior levels within the organization.

In his Facebook post, Satej Patil refuted the claims made by Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, emphasizing that Gandhi’s interview clearly did not advocate for the abolition of reservations. He accused Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi of twisting Gandhi’s words to suit their agenda and unfairly targeting Asim Sarode, who had no involvement in the issue.

Adv. Asim Sarode had advocated the Nirbhay Bano campaign against the BJP and its national leaders. Several social activists participating in this campaign had openly advocated to vote for political parties opposing the BJP on national level.
