Vasant More Claims to Have Received Threatening Call

Shivraj Sanas

Pune: Vasant More, who recently joined the Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction after contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Pune on a Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi ticket, has reportedly received death threats. More, known for his outspoken Facebook posts, shared an audio clip detailing the threat.

Vasant More received the threat via a call, though the caller did not contact him directly but instead called his nephew, Pratik Koditkar. An unknown MNS worker phoned Pratik, stating that Vasant More would be "taken down" by the end of this month, leading to widespread concern.

The caller brazenly mentioned that even if a complaint was filed against him, it wouldn't matter as he already had 13-14 cases registered against him, and one more wouldn't make a difference. He claimed he would spend a year in jail but would ensure Vasant More's downfall, asserting his allegiance to MNS.

Vasant More shared the audio clip on Facebook and questioned whether rejoining his former party warranted such a reaction from MNS members, going as far as to threaten murder.

He demanded that the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station file a case and investigate the matter. The response from the police is awaited.

When asked who was behind the threat, Vasant More intriguingly pointed fingers at MNS city president Sainath Babar. This allegation has sparked considerable discussion, especially since the individual named was once considered a close associate during More's tenure with MNS.

In 2019, More contested the Assembly elections from Hadapsar under MNS and finished third, securing 34,809 votes. This seat was won by NCP's Chetan Tupe, who later aligned with Ajit Pawar.

More has joined Shiv Sena, but his chances of securing a ticket for the Assembly elections appear slim due to past election defeats. More may be entrusted with responsibilities within the municipal corporation, where he has substantial experience. Uddhav Thackeray hinted at such possibilities during More's induction.
