Vishal Agarwal, Shivani Agarwal Denied Bail in Evidence Tampering Case

Salil Urunkar

Pune: The Special Judge U.M. Mudholkar has denied the bail applications of all the accused in a case related to tampering with blood samples before a minor’s medical examination in the Kalyaninagar accident investigation.

The accused include the father of the minor and a construction businessman, Vishal Agarwal, his wife Shivani Agarwal, and senior medical officials from Sassoon Hospital.

The case involves allegations of evidence tampering and attempts to fabricate new evidence on the first day of the incident.

Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hiray emphasized the seriousness of this act, noting that tampering with judicial evidence undermines the integrity of the legal system. The court rejected the bail requests after considering the arguments presented by both sides.

In this case, the father of the minor and a construction businessman, Vishal Surendrakumar Agarwal, his wife Shivani Vishal Agarwal (both residents of Bungalow No. 1, Brahma Suncity, Wadgaon Sheri), Head of Forensic Department at Sassoon Hospital Dr. Ajay Taware, Chief Medical Officer of the Emergency Department Dr. Shrihari Halnor, Ashpak Makandar, and Amar Gaikwad are currently lodged in Yerawada Jail. They had applied for bail in the court.

After the charge sheet was filed in this case, the accused applied for bail. Opposing the bail application, Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hiray argued that on the very first day of the incident, the accused not only tampered with the evidence along with the documents but also attempted to create new evidence.

He stated that the judiciary needs proper evidence according to the law to deliver the right decision. Hence, this is a play with the judicial system, which must be taken very seriously.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rejected the bail applications. Meanwhile, the Agarwal family has filed an application in the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) here to get the car involved in the accident back. The next hearing on this application is scheduled for August 28.
