Vishrantwadi Policeman Assualted by Five Men

Pune: A policeman stationed at Vishrantwadi Police Station was assaulted over a minor issue.

The complaint was filed by Police Naik Dhawal Ravikant Lonkar (38), a resident of Tulsi Residency, in Dhanori.

The suspects have been identified as Vijay Suryakant Kanjale (28), Suryakant Ganpatrao Kanjale (58), Chandrakant Ganpatrao Kanjale (52), Vishal Chandrakant Kanjale (24), and Nimesh Kishor Jagtap (21), all residents of Goodwill Sanskriti, Bhairavnagar, Dhanori.

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM when the complainant, along with his wife and children, was returning home in his four-wheeler. Suddenly, a person appeared in front of their vehicle in Lane No. 10, Bhairavnagar, causing them to stop the car.

The accused engaged in a quarrel with the complainant, assaulted him with hands and feet, abused him, and Vijay Suryakant Kanjale injured the complainant's nose and lips with a weapon.

A case has been registered at the Vishrantwadi Police Station, and Police Sub-Inspector Padmaraj Gampale is investigating further.

In another incident, a traffic policeman was assaulted by a motorist in Pune’s Hadapsar area on Saturday (August 10) evening, leading to the arrest of one individual and the filing of charges against two others. The incident took place in the Handewadi area when a traffic jam occurred, and the police were regulating the flow of vehicles.

The arrested suspect motorist has been identified as Maruti Rajaram Mane (22), a resident of Gopalpatti, Manjari. A case has also been registered against Sonu Patkar and another motorist in connection with this incident.
