Pune: Sunil Tingre, the sitting MLA from Wadgaon Sheri, has confirmed his intent to contest the upcoming assembly elections under the banner of the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Tingre, speaking to the media, dismissed any possibilities of a "friendly contest" in the constituency, affirming that the NCP will field him as its candidate.
Although the NCP recently released a list of 38 candidates, Wadgaon Sheri's candidacy was conspicuously absent. This led to speculation regarding the final candidate for the constituency.
Addressing these questions, Tingre confidently stated that, as the current MLA, he will retain the candidacy, emphasizing his trust in Ajit Pawar’s leadership.
He confirmed that the party had already issued him the AB form and reassured his supporters that there would be no compromise or friendly contest in Wadgaon Sheri.
Tingre also made a pointed remark that anyone hoping to win using Sharad Pawar’s sympathy would not be successful.
He reiterated his deep respect for Sharad Pawar, acknowledging that Pawar is a respected leader who has the authority to critique him.
Tingre noted that his family has worked with Pawar for three generations, and their relationship remains strong.
Tingre emphasized that his campaign would center around the development of the constituency rather than focusing on political party symbols, alliances, or individuals.
He assured voters that despite any accusations or allegations made against him, his track record would speak for itself.
He also claimed that no MLA before him has managed to bring as much funding to the constituency as he has.
Tingre expressed confidence that voters would recognize this and cast their votes based on the progress and development achieved during his tenure.
