Wadgaon Sheri: Youth Electrocuted While Hoisting Flag During Religious Procession

Pune: In a tragic accident, one youth lost his life, and another was seriously injured after being electrocuted during a religious procession in the Wadgaon Sheri area of Pune.

The incident took place on Sunday (September 22) morning at Anand Park, where a large number of people had gathered to participate in the procession.

According to eyewitnesses, two youths had climbed onto a DJ truck and were hoisting a flag when the flag accidentally came into contact with high-voltage electric wires.

The youths immediately received a powerful electric shock and collapsed to the ground. One of the youths died on the spot, while the other was critically injured.

Upon receiving information, local police arrived at the scene and promptly admitted the injured youth to a nearby hospital for treatment. The body of the deceased was taken into police custody for further investigation.

A video of the incident has surfaced, capturing the moments of the accident, which has since been shared widely on social media.

The names of the deceased and the injured youth have not yet been released. Residents of the Wadgaon Sheri area are deeply shocked by the accident, and there has been an outpouring of grief in the community.

The police have begun the process of registering a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether negligence played a role.

The tragic event has raised concerns about the safety measures in place for public processions and the proximity of electric wires to such gatherings.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by live electrical wires during public events, and authorities are urging caution during similar processions in the future.
