Pune: A young man in Wagholi was kidnapped and assaulted following a minor collision while walking to buy vegetables. The incident, which escalated from an argument, involved nine individuals who forcibly took the victim in a car, demanded money, and assaulted him. The Lonikand police have registered a robbery case against the perpetrators.
Lukman Hasmat Hashmi (21, resident of Wagholi) lodged a complaint at the Lonikand police station. Following his complaint, the police have charged Shubham Nathuram Jadhav (24, resident of Wagholi), Ananda Hanumant Patil (resident of Ubale Nagar, Wagholi), and their accomplices.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening between 6 PM and 8:30 PM near the Durga Mata Temple on Chokhi Dhani Road in Wagholi.
According to the police, the complainant and his cousin were walking to buy vegetables when a 17-year-old boy bumped into the complainant. When the complainant asked the boy to walk carefully, the boy became angry and called his associates Shubham and Ananda.
They, along with another accomplice, assaulted the complainant and his companions Samir and Vivek with wooden sticks and kicks. They also called additional accomplices.
The complainant and his companions were forcibly put into a Swift car and taken to a construction site near Podar College. The assailants demanded money, claiming that the car was damaged. They forced the complainant’s uncle, Aziz Ahmed, to transfer Rs. 18,000 via Google Pay to the driver’s account.
The complainant was then assaulted with wooden sticks and kicks and threatened with death. Samir Hashmi’s mobile was forcibly taken, and Samir and Vivek were injured during the assault. Inspector Jagdale is investigating the case.
