Two Arrested for Robbery and Vandalism at Rahatani Footwear Shop

Two men forcefully entered a shop, robbed the cashier, and vandalized the store, creating panic by breaking the windows of two parked cars. The Wakad Police have arrested the two accused.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Shantanu Gaikwad (22 years old, resident of Kinara Colony, Rahatani) and Rishikesh Yadav (22 years old, resident of Rahatani).

The complaint was filed by Tahir Jamil Hasan (46 years old, resident of Vinayaknagar, Sangvi) at the Wakad Police Station. Hasan owns the A-One Footwear Dhamaka Sale shop near Nakhate Petrol Pump in Rahatani. The incident occurred on the evening of August 21.

Shantanu Gaikwad and Rishikesh Yadav entered the shop, verbally abused the employees, and started threatening them. They threw around footwear and other items, creating chaos in the store.

The duo forcefully took two pairs of sandals worth ₹700 each and a pair of shoes worth ₹500. They also snatched ₹1,500 from Hasan’s shirt pocket. The accused threatened Hasan with dire consequences if he reported the incident to the police.

As they exited the shop, the men picked up a cement block and threw it towards Hasan, who managed to dodge it. However, the block hit two parked cars, shattering their windows.

The commotion caused by the two men scared the neighboring shop owners, who shut down their stores in fear. The police have arrested Gaikwad and Yadav, and Sub-Inspector Sachin Chavan is investigating the case.
