Weapons Supplier in Andekar Murder Case Apprehended

Pune: In a significant development in the murder case of former corporator and notorious Andekar gang leader Vanraj Andekar, the Pune police have arrested a key suspect responsible for providing the weapons used in the crime.

The arrested individual, identified as Sangam Sampat Waghmare (20), a resident of Ambegaon Pathar, was apprehended following a thorough investigation by the Crime Branch Unit II.

Waghmare has been remanded to police custody until September 11 for further interrogation. His role in the case has been described as pivotal, as he was involved in sourcing and delivering the firearms used in Andekar’s murder.

The case, which has seen multiple arrests, continues to unfold with significant progress. So far, the police have arrested 15 men, one woman, and detained three minors in connection with the murder. Investigators have been piecing together the sequence of events, and Waghmare’s arrest marks a key breakthrough.

During the investigation, officers from Crime Branch Unit 2, led by senior officer Pratap Mankar, discovered Waghmare's involvement. Police constables Jadhav and Mokashi conducted a detailed interrogation of Waghmare, during which he confessed to providing the pistol used in the killing.

He admitted that he, along with two other accomplices, Akash Mhaske and Aniket Dudhbate, brought the weapon to be used in the assassination of Andekar.
