Pune: A man was kidnapped, confined, and brutally assaulted for signing as a witness on a will related to a property dispute involving his sister's mother-in-law. The incident, which occurred on June 4 in Hadapsar has led to the arrest of seven individuals by the Hadapsar Police.

The accused, identified as Popat Baban Shendkar (55), Saurabh Popat Shendkar (24), Sunil Kisan Shendkar (41), Sameer Ramdas Shendkar (38), Ganesh Ramdas Shendkar (33), Mahesh Dattatray Shendkar (33), and Vighnesh Gyaneshwar Shendkar (19), were charged following a complaint by Dilip Baban Ingle (56) at the Hadapsar Police Station.

According to the police report, the complainant’s sister, Sushila Jaysing Shendkar's mother-in-law, Tulsabai Baban Shendkar, had prepared a will transferring six gunthas of land in Mohammadwadi to Jaysing Shendkar.

Dilip Ingle, the complainant, had signed as a witness to this will. The accused, however, alleged that Jaysing Shendkar had fraudulently obtained the land from Tulsabai Shendkar.

On the night of June 4, the accused allegedly abducted Ingle from a construction site in Sadesataranali, forcing him into an Ertiga car. He was taken to Jaysing Shendkar's residence, where the group allegedly assaulted him with kicks and punches, resulting in serious injuries to his back and spine.

During the altercation, Jaysing Shendkar was also attacked. The accused reportedly deleted a voice recording from Jaysing's mobile phone and destroyed the device.

The police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident, led by Assistant Police Inspector Hasina Shikalgar.
