PM at G20 Summit, to flag terror, climate issue

Hamburg: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today joined world leaders including US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the 12th G-20 Summit, which began here today amidst differences among member countries over climate change and open trade.

After the welcome session, the leaders went for a retreat. However, they will soon be speaking at the first working session which will be on global growth and trade.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the prime minister will meet his Japanese and Canadian counterpart in Hamburg.

Another working session where the global leaders will participate will be on Sustainable Development, Climate and Energy. Earlier in the morning, Mr Modi participated in BRICS leaders meet held on the sidelines of the G-20.

Modi who arrived here last night from Israel, had before departing from New Delhi, said on his Facebook page, "Over two days on 7th and 8th July, I look forward to engaging leaders from other G-20 countries on the vital issues affecting our world today that have a bearing on economic growth, sustainable development, and peace and stability. "

Modi further added, "We will review progress on decisions since the Hangzhou Summit last year and deliberate on issues of terrorism, climate, sustainable development, growth and trade, digitalisation, health, employment, migration, women's empowerment, and partnership with Africa. The theme chosen for this year is "Shaping an Inter-connected World"."
