As many as 130 vehicle pile-up in Texas, USA caused amid icy road conditions has left six drivers dead and several others trapped.
Officials stated at least 36 people were rushed to hospitals and that a total of 65 people required medical attention from the crash. The pileup that involved a total of 133 vehicles, according to officials, took place around 6:30 am after freezing rain made its impact overnight and into the morning, leaving roadways across North Texas wet and slippery.
“A total of 65 people had been treated at area hospitals for injuries related to the crash, but that number was expected to rise as more people sought help,” MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky was quoted as saying by DallasNews.
Thin ice sheets wreaked havoc across many parts of Texas on Thursday.
“Information will change going throughout the day as we get more information,” Fort Worth Fire Department public information officer Mike Drivdahl was quoted as saying by Independent. He added, “We are going vehicle, by vehicle, to make sure that anybody that is still trapped in their vehicle has been extricated, if possible. There’s a lot of vehicles to go through.”
