Ahead of the first phase of polling for the West Bengal assembly elections, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has rolled out its 40-members list of star campaigners.
Apart from the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda, the list has also included the names of several popular Bengali celebrities who recently joined the party including Mithun Chakraborty, Yash Dasgupta, Srabanti Chatterjee, Payel Sarkar, and Hiran Chatterjee.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is known for making incendiary speeches in past, has also made it to the list. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra are also there in the star campaigners' list of West Bengal.
BJPs MPs from West Bengal including Babul Supriyo and Debasree Chaudhuri are also included in the star campaigners’ list. Leaders from the tribal community like Union Minister Arjun Munda, Jual Oram, and Babu Lal Marandi will also campaign for BJP in West Bengal.
Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Smriti Irani, and BJP Delhi leader Manoj Tiwari have also made it to the list.
West Bengal will witness eight-phased Assembly polls beginning from March 27. The tenure of the 16th Legislative Assembly of West Bengal will end on May 30 this year. A total of 7,34,07,832 voters will choose their representative for the 17th Legislative Assembly of West Bengal.
