Pune: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is demanding that Eknath Khadse, who has now joined the Nationalist Congress Party, should be banned from politics. Preeti Sharma Menon, National Spokesperson of AAP has released a statement regarding this.
In her statement, Menon says, "Maharashtra Politics is bitterly fought, but it does not rescind into vulgarity. We Maharashtrians are especially proud of the respect given to women in public life. As always, there are exceptions and one of the most despicable ones is Eknath Khadse. I strongly condemn his statement made about women and about anti-corruption crusader Anjali Damania in particular. It is so despicable that it is not worthy of repetition."
Menon has questioned NCP MP Supriya Sule too. Menon says, "Mrs Supriya Sule, are you proud that you have inducted a man who talks about women as a commodity that should be given to men? Are you proud he insults a respectable married lady in this despicable way? Is this the culture we should now expect from the NCP?"
"NCP has done a huge disservice to our state by promoting Eknath Khadse who is not only accused of corruption but also of misogyny of the worst kind. We hope that the Maha Vikas Aaghadi does not include him in the State government," she has stated.
Menon has also expressed her support to activist Anjali Damania. "I strongly condemn the deplorable remarks of Eknath Khadse and I urge all politicians of Maharashtra, especially the women to do the same," Menon has said.
Menon has also expressed her displeasure over marathi news channels who aired Eknath Khadse's deplorable statement. She said, "Do you have no standards at all on how women should be spoken about? Have Editors abdicated their roles?"
