PUNE: A total of 280 graduates were conferred degrees this year at the fourth annual convocation ceremony of the Army Institute of Technology (AIT) at its Dighi campus.
Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, former director General of CSIR, who was the chief guest at the event, spoke about the need for including sustainable technologies in engineering education. He said that the three Ds - digitalisation, decarbonisation (Sustainability of environment), and Democratisation of access (Sustainability of society)’ will drive the future society. “With the evolution of digital technology, AI and machine learning will play a significant role in academics as well as in the corporate field.”
Brig Abhay Bhat, Director, AIT, and Maj Gen Pritam Bishnoi, VSM, Chairman, AIT, were also present on the occasion. In his address, Bhat presented an elaborative report of performance and achievements of graduating batch of 2018.
