32-year-old booked for abetting wife’s suicide

PUNE: A 32-year-old woman committed suicide by setting herself on fire on Thursday in Hinjawadi. The police have booked the deceased’s husband for abetment of suicide.

The accused, Lahunath Taawre of Mulshi, used to mentally and physically harass his wife Pooja on a regular basis, the police said. The couple got married last year after which the accused started harassing his wife. He was an alcoholic and used to beat her up on a regular basis. The deceased was fed up of the regular harassment and ended her life on Thursday by pouring kerosene on herself and setting herself on fire.
