Pune: Association of Clinical Biochemists and Microbiologists (ACBM), India, which is a national body of healthcare professionals in diagnostic subjects, appointed Ajay Soni from Nagpur as its new President. The members of this association are MSc and PhDs in nonclinical subjects like Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology.
Soni has a vast experience of 27 years in the field of diagnostic sciences and is an avid researcher with many national and international research publications. He has guided PhD students and his focus of research work has been in the area of diabetes, glucose estimation systems and quality control implementation in Indian labs.
Ajay Soni has been the National Coordinator of ACBM and represented the association at many National Council meetings of Central Government’s Clinical Establishment Council and also Quality Council of India’s - NABL.
Others who are elected in the team are Harsh Vardhan Singh from Delhi, Rishabh Rajput from Haryana and Girish Sharanathe from Maharashtra, who have been elected to the posts of Vice President in ACBM.
Siva Adarsh from Karnataka has been elected to the post of secretary along with Sandip Ghosh from West Bengal as the association’s joint secretary. Pramod Bhore from Maharashtra and Kshama Hiremath from Karnataka have taken the responsibilities of treasurer and joint treasurer respectively.
The newly installed President Ajay Soni spoke about the plans formulated by the installed management committee for the progress of the association’s activities with special healthcare services programmes for the benefit of the general public at large.
