Bhama Askhed dam almost full; 500 cusecs water released

Pune: With Bhama Askhed dam reaching almost full capacity, officials of the Irrigation Department released 500 cusecs water from the dam on Sunday. 

Following the recent rainfall in different parts of the district, dams like Chaskaman, Khadakwasla, Pavana, Panshet and Varasgaon have already reached full capacity. The Irrigation Department has issued warnings before the release of water. On Friday the Irrigation Department had released 18,491 cusecs water from Khadakwasla’s reservoir. 

As per the Water Resources Department, dams like Bhatghar, Dimbhe and Nira Deoghar have crossed the level of 95 per cent capacity. The data from Water Resources Department also revealed that the water storage in dams of Pune district have reached 79.15 per cent and the same storage was 72.79 per cent last year. 
At 57.6 per cent, the total storage of water in Maharashtra dams seems better compared to last year when the storage on same day was 52.2 per cent.
