Budget 2021: Hadapsar Terminus gets booster of Rs eight crore to take the load off Pune railway station

The Hadapsar Terminus once completed will also recover timings of trains including those departing from Pune Railway Station

Pune: With increased traffic of commuters at Pune Railway Station, the proposed Hadapsar Railway Station Terminal is undergoing work from the last two years.

Now, it is expected the redevelopment work of Hadapsar Railway Station to turn it into a terminal will be completed next year as the central government in its recent budget has allocated over Rs 8 crore for the project. Rs 13 crore has also been allocated to increase the length of platforms at Pune Railway Station which will help long-distance trains with 24-27 coaches to ply from this route. It is said that the Hadapsar terminus will take the load off Pune railway station, hosting trains that arrive at or depart towards Daund from Pune.

The terminus once completed will also recover punctuality of trains including those departing from Pune railway station.

Apart from this, the central government has proposed Rs nine crore for Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (ATVM) along with all railway stations of the Central Railways. The centre allotted 7,795 crores for Central Railways out of which Rs 4,830 is for capital expenditure.

· Wardha - Nanded (via Yevatmal-Pusood) (270 km) – Rs347 crore

· Indore-Manmad via Malegaon (368 km)– Rs 9,547 crore

· Solapur-Osmanabad new line via Tuljapur (84 km) Rs20 crore

· Pune-Miraj-Londa (doubling 467 km) – Rs 555 crore

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday declared a record sum of Rs 110 lakh crore for the Railways. She stated that the Railways would monetise the dedicated freight corridors after its commissioning.

The Finance Minister also applauded the services provided by the Railways to transport essential commodities around the country during the COVID-19 lockdown.
