Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Pune to review the progress and distribution strategy of COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute.
According to information received, PM Modi will visit Pune on November 28. It is also said that PM Modi will review the COVID-19 situation and discuss the strategy to distribute vaccines along with the top government officials. The Central government has been putting in place measures for quick and effective distribution of COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available. Thus, PM Modi's visit to Serum will be a significant move.
Adar Poonawalla, Chief Executive Officer of the Serum Institute of India, recently said that the company will be able to yield 400 million doses of AstraZeneca's vaccine by July 2021 and scale up further from there. The world's biggest vaccine maker, which has partnered to produce at least one billion doses, may get emergency authorisation from the government by next month.
According to sources, a meeting concerning PM Modi's visit to the city was held recently at the Pune Divisional Office. However, the administrative moves in this regard are currently underway. PM Modi will be accompanied by ambassadors from 98 countries. All dignitaries, including PM Modi, will visit the Serum Institute to review the progress of vaccination.
