Drive to spread awareness on sexual harassment at workplace

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Opash, a socio-commercial company, has organised a Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplaces (POSH) awareness drive for women across various organised (private and government) and unorganised sectors across Pune on March 8.

The session will cover definitions and concepts around gender equality and fair opportunities, the philosophy behind the need of maintaining good work environment, details about POSH Act 2013 and preventive and redressal mechanisms of sexual harassment at work space.

The organisers have stated that the aim is to spread awareness about POSH to as many women as possible. “With our extensive industry experience, we facilitate better understanding and appreciation of the evolving business environment in India and compliance with the new legal mandates,” said the organisers.

POSH is applicable to all enterprises, private or public, big or small, and has serious penal liability for non-compliance under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013.
