Feel the winter chill as mercury drops to 8.3 degrees Celsius in Pune

Pune witnessed chill in air as the temperature dropped at 8.1 degree Celsius on Wednesday

Pune: The minimum temperature continues to drop in Pune as it was reported 8.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning. Pashan area also witnessed temperature going down at 9.1 degree Celsius while Lohegaon reported 9.7 degrees.

KS Hosalikar, Head, Regional Meteorological Centre on his Twitter handle said, “Mumbai & Maharashtra winter likely to cont tomorrow with Mumbai min temp around 16-17°C, Pune single digit as per IMD GFS guidance. Parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha likely to cont with same trend. Temp likely to rise gradual & models show likely lowering near year end.”

Cold northerly winds have been lowering the temperature in northern states of the country leading to the drop of temperature in Pune and rest of the state. Pune also experienced cold conditions on Tuesday as the temperature was recorded at 8.1 degree Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also reported Pune as the coldest spot in Central Maharashtra on Tuesday.

The weather department has already stated that the minimum temperature will hover around 9 degrees Celsius in few first days of the week and will increase to 10 and 11 degrees Celsius during the weekend. A drop in temperature has been directly linked with coldwave conditions prevailing in northern parts of the country. Many states such as Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi are experiencing a cold wave.

Apart from Pune, Jeur saw temperature going down at 7 degree Celsius while Nashik reported 8.2 degree Celsius. Gondia continues to witness chill winds at 8 degrees. Nagpur also witnessed 9.2 degree Celsius while Parbhani reported 9.6 degree Celsius.
