PUNE: For the first time, around 40 prisoners of Yerwada Open Jail were trained by Atul Behre’s Naad Brahma dhol tasha group and these prisoners will perform on the first day of Ganesh festival

“We always wanted to work with prisoners and involve them in dhol tasha during Ganpati celebration as this festival has lot of positive vibes and these prisoners who do not have any enthusiasm, will be filled be positivity,” said Behre, President, Naad Brahma.

Behre who started training these prisoners from past one month and use to conduct a four-hour class every day in Yerwada open jail, found very challenging to train them. He said, “These people are mostly in the age group 30 to 40 years and they were absolutely raw, therefore, it was really difficult for us to train them. Most importantly, they also lack excitement and interest which also acted as a roadblock during the process. However, we managed to train them and today they can also feel the difference as this training has filled them with hope and positivity.”

State prison department Additional DGP Sunil Ramanand told Sakal Times, “It is being done for the first time. In Pune, the prisoners will be part of dhol tasha group as it is famous in Pune. At other places, they will play other instruments associated with the place.”
