Petrol and diesel prices have been on a rise throughout the country and Mumbai has been no exception. As per the All India Petrol Dealers Association (AIPDA), a litre of petrol in the Pune Municipal Corporation limits cost Rs 95.39 from Tuesday, while a litre of diesel now sold at Rs 85.04. In seven days, the price for a litre of fuel rose by Rs 1.91 while and diesel went up by Rs 2.28 for a litre. It is projected that the petrol per litre may cross Rs 100 per litre in the city.
Petrol and diesel prices have been on a rise since the past week. On Tuesday, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) surged the fuel prices for the eighth consecutive days.

“The daily price rise of petrol and diesel is breaking the backbone of common people in Maharashtra more compared to other states because here in Maharashtra petrol is Rs 10 more expensive than compared to other states in the country, and diesel too is comparatively more expensive than neighbouring states,” said Ali Daruwalla, National Spokesperson for the AIPDA (All India Petroleum Dealers Association).
Premium petrol rates also touching or crossed the Rs 100-mark in smaller towns and cities of Maharashtra as well as in other parts of the country. Talking about Maharashtra, Parbhani reported the highest prices for fuels with some of the premium fuel companies crossing the Rs 100-grim milestone there. The premium petrol price is charged at Rs 101.01 per litre here.
Meanwhile, Congress has led an attack on PM Narendra Modi led government over continuous rise in fuel prices. On Tuesday, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala criticised the BJP government over rising prices of petrol and diesel, accusing it of 'fuel loot'.
