ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Distinguished economist and Padma Vibhushan awardee Dr Vijay Kelkar was felicitated with honorary membership by Rotary Club of Pune South at a programme held at Sevasadan School in Erandwane on Monday.

On the occasion, Kelkar said, “It is a great honour to receive the honorary membership from the Rotary Club of Pune South. Several distinguished persons from various fields have already been honoured such as SM Joshi, Mohan Dharia, Ujjwal Nikam and others.”

Kelkar added, “Growth is the solution to remove poverty. India has a heterogeneous society, but there is a need to follow law. If there is respect of law by all then only growth status will improve.”

The guest of honour for the programme was  Sakal Media Group Chairman Pratap Pawar. He said, “If there is honour and respect for law and contract in business then there will be growth. As a businessman, everyone commits mistakes, politicians too. Those who take decisions have committed mistakes at some point. We should be optimistic and introspect our mistake.”
