Pune: On the occasion of anniversary celebrations of British-era war at Bhima Koregaon village, the Pune district administration has declared orders to keep Pune-Ahmednagar highway closed for vehicular movement on two days. The road will be closed on December 31, 2020 from 5pm and entire day on January 1, 2021. The highway traffic and incoming traffic from Chakan-Shikrapur will be diverted to other routes.
The anniversary of the battle of Bhima Koregaon – in which 500 Mahar soldiers of the British East India had defeated the army of Peshwa on January 1, 1818 – is celebrated every year and the celebrations begin around December 31 midnight and continue for the entire day on January 1. The district administration has banned outsiders to visit the programme. Only those with passes issued by Pune rural police will be allowed to visit here.
CHECK THE TRAFFIC DIVERSION:
Pune to Ahmednagar: Heavy vehicles from Pune heading towards Nagar will be diverted on Kharadi Bypass, Hadapsar, Pune-Solapur road, Chaufula, Kedgaon, Nhavara, Shirur, Nagar road route.
Ahmednagar to Pune: Heavy vehicles from Ahmednagar heading towards Pune and Mumbai will be diverted to Shirur, Nhavara Phata, Nhavara, Pargaon, Chaufula, Yavat, Hadapsar route.
Solapur Road to Alandi, Chakan: Vehicles coming from Solapur road and heading towards Chakan and Alandi will be diverted on Hadapsar, Magarpatta, Kharadi Bypass, Vishrantwadi, Alandi, Chakan route.
Chakan-Shikrapur Road: Vehicular traffic coming from and or towards Chakan and Shikrapur will not be allowed.
Mumbai to Ahmednagar: Light vehicles like car and jeep coming from Mumbai towards Nagar will be diverted to Wadgaon Maval, Chakan, Khed, Pabal, Shirur, Nagar, while heavy vehicles will be diverted to Wadgaon Maval, Chakan, Khed, Manchar, Narayangaon, Alephata, Nagar route.
