Jagtap responds to Pawar’s allegations

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pimpri: BJP city unit chief and MLA Laxman Jagtap has reacted sharply to NCP leader Ajit Pawar’s allegation that he and other BJP MLAs are on a corruption spree in the city.

Jagtap said, “Pawar, who has been rejected by citizens, should not try to teach us. We are capable of running PCMC and know our responsibility well.”

He said the BJP will also win in the Maval and Shirur Lok Sabha constituencies in the next general election.

Jagtap was addressing the media meet called to respond to Ajit Pawar’s allegations. He said, “The garbage collection tender has not been cancelled due to allegations by the Opposition, but due to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ intervention. If I am proved guilty of taking even a single rupee in the tender, then I will quit politics.”

Jagtap said, “The tender was issued for the collection of waste in Pimpri Chinchwad in two parts. The new tender process will be implemented in eight parts. Therefore, the garbage collection will take place smoothly and effectively. Also, the civic body will save money in the process.”

Jagtap said, “The NCP’s revenue source has been closed as citizens have handed over the reins of the PCMC to the BJP. So, the NCP leaders are becoming restless and attacking the ruling party every now and then. The PCMC is being run with utmost transparency. We are aware that people were fed up with the NCP’s corrupt rule.”
