Pune: District Collector Naval Kishore Ram and Superintendent of Pune rural police Sandip Patil have appealed protestors to maintain law and order in the district on Thursday when the members of  Maratha community have called for Maharashtra bandh. 

District Collector Ram said the government is positive about Maratha reservation and so people should not take law into their hands. Members of Maratha Kranti Morcha have assured to the collector they would carry out a peaceful protest and will not indulge in ‘Rasta Roko’ events. 

“Suicide is not the solution to the problem and so youths should avoid taking such extreme steps. The decision in Maratha reservation is pending in High Court. The proceedings on Maratha reservation will end by November. 

The mega recruitment drive has been put on hold by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis until the reservation process is completed,” added Ram.

Superintendent of Pune rural police Sandip Patil said that till date the protest march for Maratha reservation have been silent except the recent ones. “People should not take law into their hands and there should not be any communication gap between the protestors and government authorities,” added Patil.
