Pimpri: In the biggest seizure of firearms by a police station team in Pimpri-Chinchwad, 24 country-made pistols and 38 cartridges worth Rs 12 lakh were seized from Madhya Pradesh. The police have claimed that they busted the gang of 12 people dealing with the firearms on Wednesday. The accused regularly used to comment on videos of pistols on YouTube by asking users to contact them if want the firearms.
During patrolling in Bhosari area, police acting on a tip-off arrested suspect Rupesh Patil and seized four pistols and four cartridges from him. After interrogating Patil, Assistant Police Inspector Siddheshwar Kailase and his team visited Madhya Pradesh for further investigation. During the investigation, the police also nabbed the prime accused who were the dealers of pistols. They are identified as Bablusingh alias Roni Attar Singh Barnala and Kalu alias Sushil Pavara.
The police have seized 24 country-made pistols and 38 live cartridges worth Rs 12 lakh after raiding multiple places in Madhya Pradesh. The accused have been arrested and identified as Nanya alias Umesh Raikar, Rahul Walhekar, Dhiraj Dhagare. All of the aforementioned accused are history-sheeters and are linked with several crimes previously.
According to the police, the gang used social media platforms and contacts at Yerawada Prison to smuggle pistols from Madhya Pradesh to Pune. The accused used YouTube as their platform to muggle the firearms. Bhosari Police is investigating the case further.
