Pimpri-Chinchwad set to welcome Lord Ganesh

Pimpri: Residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad are set to welcome Lord Ganesh on Ganesh Chaturthi on Thursday. The municipal corporation and the police authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the 11-day festival.
Some Ganesh mandals in the city will conduct brief processions prior to the ceremonial installation of idols of Lord Ganesh. Police Commissioner RK Padmanabhan will attend the installation of the idol of Tarun Mitra Mandal Sadbhawana Pratishthan at Akurdi at 7.30 pm.

Gandhi Peth Talim Mitra Mandal will organise a procession from Chapekar Chowk to Gandhi Peth in Chinchwadgaon at 10.30 am. Meanwhile, PCMC has started preparations at various immersion spots in the city to facilitate smooth immersion of idols. Various ghats at the Pavana river and Ganesh Lake in Pradhikaran, Nigdi are some of the major immersion centres in the city.

PCMC has undertaken repairs of the roads leading to the immersion ghats. Floodlights have been erected at many places to improve visibility during the immersion.
