Pune: Bumble date turns into nightmare as man loses Rs 1.5 lakh

The suspect woman stole a gold chain, gold ring and mobile handset belonging to the man and worth a total Rs 1.5 lakh.

Pune: Wakad police have booked a woman on charges of sedating and robbing of valuables belonging to a man whom she had met through Bumble dating app. The identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. The incident took place at 5 am on January 18 at Hotel Sayaji in Wakad.

Ashishkumar B (30), a resident of Block 9, Rail Nagar in Coimbatore at Chennai has filed a complaint in this regard. Based on his complaint the unidentified woman has been booked under sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence) and 379 (punishment for theft) of the Indian Penal Code. The FIR was registered on January 23 at around 3pm.

According to police, the suspect woman and the complainant were introduced to each other through Bumble dating app. They both started chatting with each other after they were matched. While chatting the woman lured the man to meet her. She told the man that she desperately needs some work and that they should meet.

The woman and the complainant met at room number 503 at Sayaji hotel on Pune-Bengaluru highway in Wakad. The woman then offered a cold drink to the complainant. After consuming the beverage, the complainant fell unconscious.

Taking undue advantage of the situation, the suspect woman stole a gold chain, gold ring and mobile handset belonging to the man and worth a total Rs 1.5 lakh.

Assistant Police Inspector TS Bhogam is investigating the case.
